A centrifugal pump lifts water from a sump to an overhead reservoir through a pipeline 0.3 m in diameter and 4 km long. The velocity of flow in the pipe is 1.4 m/s and the static head is 20 m. Taking the friction factor of the pipe as 0.01 and the overall efficiency of the pump as 75%, compute the power required to drive the pump. Neglect minor losses.
